UNITY BUILDS HEALTH AND EDUCATION FACILITIES Buenavista, Marinduque- “In the midst of the continuing development in what was dubbed the depressed Barangay of Yook is the overwhelming unity of its people…We once envisioned a Barangay Health Center that will look like the Barangay Hall itself, but what we were able to build was even bigger than what we dreamed of…There is nothing wrong in dreaming for a better future, as long as it is paired with persistence.” A DREAM COME TRUE I am Kristina Grace A. Fernandico, sponsor child of Norwegian Mission Alliance Philippines from Navotas area. I’ve been a sponsor child since I was in my kindergarten days, 1994. My father is working as a Security Guard in a company, while my Mother is a vendor of variety of food spices and selling it house-to-house. I am the eldest child among the 4 siblings. My parents has always helped each other to give us a better future, and I was so blessed that Norwegian Mission Alliance Philippines have supported me to reach my dream. AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER! Thank God it’s Friday! As we welcome our new Consultant Mr. Ole Martin Uglem and his wife Mrs. Hilde Bringedal Uglem into the NMAP FAMILY last January 22.What an affair to remember! |

GREETINGS FROM FIRST NORWEGIAN VOLUNTEERS IN MARINDUQUE Ann Kristin Meberg and Katrine Vågen taught the youths in Buenavista how to play football and to dance as worship to God. Here they write about their last day as volunteers. December 12th, 2009 marked the end of our time in Marinduque. We had a farewell party for the sports and dance groups we had initiated here on the island. The youth involved in sports competed in a tournament and the dancers learnt how to choreograph their own dance after a workshop with Katrine Vaagen on how interpretative dance can be used in worship.
For the budding football players, the day began with a workshop on how to plan and set up a training group. They learnt the importance of warming up and how they can train in order to improve their skills and abilities in the sport. Then started the tournament – seven groups in all who demonstrated great potential. Teachers, church leaders and others whom we have become acquainted with were invited to lunch together with 250 youth from our different groups. The NMA team prepared a lovely native lunch that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. During the lunch, we were treated to the fruits of our labour. Six dance groups performed the dances they had learnt over the last 3 months. It was a spectacular show that ended with the football tournament final. It was impossible not feel such pride over all that the youth had learnt. We also felt very moved that they showed how much they would miss us when we leave. We certainly look forward to returning home to Norway but we will always remember with love the town of Buenavista in Marinduque. |
